In this comprehensive 4-week class, you will be introduced to many fundamental concepts related to creating glass objects in the kiln.

You will have the opportunity to fuse multiple pieces and learn how to plan firing schedules and prep the kilns for firings. In addition, you will learn proper and detailed techniques of fusing, slumping, cutting, assembly, color choice, and finishing techniques. An introduction to coldworking equipment is also included.

Class price includes all materials and use of tools, kiln firings (average 2-3 per piece), five sheets of 9" x 9" glass (clear, white, transparent color), five sheets of 4" x 4" clear glass, multiple strips of colored glass for pattern bar project, colorful scrap glass, stringers, frit, fiber paper, thin fire, and molds. More glass is available for purchase from the instructor.

Students may come in for three 2-hour Open Studio sessions during the duration of the class at no cost as long as students are working on class projects. Students pay kiln firing costs for pieces made during Open Studio that are not class-related.

No prerequisites and repeat students are welcome. Instructor: Leslie Speicher
